Soleil de Nuit’s connected packaging: Music meets home fragrance
They talk about us
New brand Soleil de Nuit is tapping into the potential of connected packaging. Its scented candles are accompanied by music playlists accessible via QR codes on the secondary packs.
Some 53% of consumers would pay more for a connected packaging experience, according to a report* from IoT agency Sharpend, signaling a potentially lucrative battleground for brands.
New Monaco-based home fragrance specialist Soleil de Nuit’s range of candles come with personalized music playlists accessible via QR codes on the outer packaging.
Launched in November 2021, the brand’s core range consists of four scented candles. Each corresponds to a season (“It’s all about Spring”, “Winter of Marrakech”...) and is associated with a music playlist in step with the candle name and the season.
Communication agency Colibri Monaco was behind the packaging design and branding, while Soleil de Nuit worked with private label candle manufacturer Bougie et Senteur on its made-in-France product range. The glass jars are lacquered and screenprinted and feature an ornamental aluminum plate (Mill Luxe). With its gold-colored lacquer screenprinted either black and white depending on the product, the plate has a raised edge effect created via annealing. The cylindrical cardboard outer packs are sheathed with glossy and matt paper and sport the same metal adornment that features on the candle jars.
The candle fragrances were developed in-house with a Grasse-based perfumer, with the brand opting for a 10% concentration rather than 8% typically used in the market. “Our fragrances are our added value,” the company affirms. In addition to its core range, Soleil de Nuit markets two other lines: bath oil and massage candles, which come in square secondary packs.
As to future developments, Soleil de Nuit plans to team up with contemporary artists for limited-edition, 1.5kg candles this summer. Fragrance diffusers with an “original” design are also in the pipeline.
Soleil de Nuit’s candles retail at €49 for 180g.
